  1. Food – We strive to provide our residents with the food they need in order to grow and develop. We spend close to P40,000.00 a month for this purpose. Just to help you visualize, the Center needs at least 7 sacks of rice for a whole month.
  2. Personal Supplies - We need bath soap, shampoo, toothpaste, laundry detergent. We also try to keep a stock of basic medicine for cough, cold, fever and minor wounds. It would be great if we could provide them a steady supply of multivitamins as well.
  3. Agricultural supplies / equipment – Our livelihood projects include poultry (egg layers), a vegetable garden and livestock (cows and goats). Donations of feeds, seeds, tools are needed and will be very much appreciated.
  4. Money - Although we are taking steps to become more financially independent, we still need a lot of help paying our bills. The Granada and Villamonte houses need to be maintained and their utilities need to be paid. We spend close to P20,000.00 a month on electricity and water bills. The Center also takes care of any medical care our residents may need in the course of their stay.
  5. Transportation - We send our residents to their court hearings and we spend an average of P5,000.00 a month for their transportation. Each time we send a boy to a court hearing, he is accompanied by our social worker, a security guard using one of the vehicles of the University.

  1. Teach – We need people who will visit us in the Center to teach our residents. A good number of our residents need a lot of help catching up… reading, writing, English, Math, Science, Social Science.
  2. Skills – We would like to equip our residents with skills that they can use when they leave the Center. Learning something new is also a good way of taking charge of one’s life. Music, art, first aid, appliance repair, basic carpentry and plumbing, crafts are just some of the skills that we can teach them.
  3. Accompaniment - Knowing that there are people who are willing to journey with them on the road to recovery is a very important thing. Many of our residents come from very far towns and cities and their families cannot afford to visit them every Sunday (2:00 – 4:00pm). Maybe you can be their family while they are with us.

  1. Referrals – Help us send the word to the different local government units in Negros Occidental. Remind your mayors, vice mayors, councilors, social workers that there is a Center that is ready to help children in conflict with the law in Bacolod City.
  2. Linkages – Someone said that it takes a village to raise a child. Well, it takes more than a Center to help children get back on the right track. Help connect us with socio-civic organizations, church groups, NGOs, grant-giving bodies, advocacy groups.
  3. R.A. 9344: The Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006 – We need to work on amending the law so that it will serve young people better. Right now, there are loopholes that need to be fixed so that young people will not be used by organized crime. Help us talk to our congressmen and senators so we can review the law and make it better.
  4. FACEBOOK. INTERNET. – Please direct traffic to the different Pag-asa sites on the net. Tell your friends to like us in Facebook (www.facebook.com/bahaypagasa) and to visit our website site (still under construction but very much functional) www.bahaypagasa.org.
